Galeus (subgenus of Squalus) Cuvier [G.] 1816:127 Masc. Squalus galeus Linnaeus 1758. Type by monotypy. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Galeus Rafinesque 1810 in fishes (Scyliorhinidae). •Synonym of Galeorhinus Blainville 1816 -- (Compagno 1984:386 [ref. 6846], Compagno 1988:246 [ref. 13488], Gomon et al. 1994:137 [ref. 22532]). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Galeorhinus Blainville 1816. Triakidae: Galeorhininae.
