Lectotype selected by Fricke 1999:411 [ref. 24106] as the specimen illustrated in Pallas' Pl. 5 (fig. 1). Originally as Sparvs insidiator. Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Socotra (Yemen), Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar and Mascarenes (La RĂ©union, Mauritius, Rodrigues) east to Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.) and Gambier Islands (French Polynesia), north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, Queensland (Australia), New Caledonia and Tonga. Habitat: marine.
