Paratypes: CAS-SU 21035 [not 20015 as published] (1), USNM 126495 [ex USBF 1621 = 5314] (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:38 [ref. 12291], Gilbert 1998:51 [ref. 23395]. Based on a hybrid, but according to Art. 17.2 the name is available. •Valid as Rhinichthys bowersi Goldsborough & Clark 1908 -- (Goodfellow et al. 1984:652 [ref. 25575], Page & Burr 1991:102 [ref. 18983]). •Mention -- (Stauffer et al. 1995:161 [ref. 23376]). •Valid as Pararhinichthys bowersi (Goldsborough & Clark 1908) -- (Stauffer et al. 1997:329 [ref. 22748], Gilbert 1998:51 [ref. 23395], Kilian et al. 2011: 241 [ref. 31604]). •F1 hybrid betweeen Nocomis micropogon and Rhinichthys cataractae -- (Raney 1940:270 [ref. 26092], Poly & Sabaj 1998:1084 [ref. 23633], Scharpf 2005:38 [ref. 28940]). Hybrid. Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Habitat: freshwater.
