Kottelat 2013:476 [ref. 32989] says "Gastrophysus has been used as a valid name after 1899 and therefore precedence over Takifugu cannot be reversed under Code art. 23.9; not junior homonym of Gastrophysa Dejean, 1835: 405 (nomen nudum) and Gastrophysa Gebler, 1842: 39 in Coleoptera". For stabilization, we prefer to use Takifugu for the time being. •Synonym of Gastrophysus Müller 1843 -- (Kottelat 2013:476 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Takifugu Marshall & Palmer 1950 -- (Masuda et al. 1984:364 [ref. 6441] based on placement of type species, Matsuura 1990:17 [ref. 13815]).
