garbei, Corydoras Miranda Ribeiro [A. de] 1937:54 [O Campo Rio de Janeiro No. 1; ref. 5025] Rio São Francisco, Estado da Bahia, Brazil. Lectotype: MNRJ 1101A. Paralectotypes: MNRJ 1101 (9). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:117 [ref. 29155]. Appeared as "Corydoras garbei sp. nov.", but the description was copied from Ihering 1911 (and not from Miranda Ribeiro 1911). Regarded by Britski 1969:207 [ref. 12401] as a homonym and synonym of Corydoras garbei Ihering 1911, but the authorship "Mir. Rib." at the beginning of the account (p. 54) we regard as in error. The lectotype designation by P. Miranda-Riebiro 1953:395 was for garbei Miranda Ribeiro, but the 10 specimens [MNRJ 1101] listed by Miranda Ribeiro in 1953 apparently were part of Ihering's series. Britski 1969:207 [ref. 12401] designated DZSASP 711 as lectotype for garbei Ihering 1911. Since Ihering was responsible for the description of both "species," he would be the author in 1937 as well, as Ihering in Miranda Ribeiro. We regard the account in 1937 as unavailable and do not accept the lectotype designation of Miranda Ribeiro in 1953 although it could be argued that he also just errored in the authorship. •In the synonymy of Corydoras garbei Ihering 1911 -- (Reis in Reis et al. 2003:298 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:117 [ref. 29155], Tencatt et al. 2014:78 [ref. 33230]). •In the synonymy of Brochis garbei (Ihering 1911). 1°Homonym.
