Paratypes: ANSP, INPA, LIA, MZUSP. •Valid as Pseudacanthicus nyktos Lopes, Sousa & Chamon 2024. Current status: Valid as Pseudacanthicus nyktos Lopes, Sousa & Chamon 2024. Loricariidae: Hypostominae. Distribution: South America: lower Xingu River drainage, Amazon basin, Pará, Brazil; introduced in the Xingu River region near Altamira. Habitat: freshwater.
