Labrochromis Regan [C. T.] 1920:45 Masc. Tilapia pallida not of Boulenger 1911 (Haplochromis ishmaeli Boulenger 1906). Type by original designation. Based on a misidentified type species (see Greenwood 1980:37 [ref. 1899]), specimens misidentified by Regan as T. pallida were Haplochromis ishmaeli Boulenger 1906, as recognized by Regan (1922). Probably should go to ICZN. •Synonym of Gaurochromis Greenwood 1980 -- (Poll & Gosse 1995:275 [ref. 24781]). •Synonym of Haplochromis Hilgendorf 1888 -- (van Oijen et al. 1991:100 [ref. 20956], van Oijen 1996:101 [ref. 22826]). •Valid as Labrochromis Regan 1920 -- (Greenwood 1980:37 [ref. 1899], Mahulu & Seehausen 2025:117 [ref. 42168]).
