Type catalog: Neumann 2006:266 [ref. 28925]. •Synonym of Chirostoma estor Jordan 1880 -- (Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:518 [ref. 27061], Fricke et al. 2024:421 [ref. 41622]). •Valid as Chirostoma album (Steindachner 1894) -- (Neumann 2006:266 [ref. 28925]). Current status: Valid as Chirostoma album (Steindachner 1894). Atherinopsidae: Menidiinae. Distribution: Distribution: Southern North America: Lago de Cuitzeo endorheic basin, Michoacán and Guanajuato (Mexico) endemic. IUCN (2025): Not Assessed. Extinct (R. Fricke, pers. comm., Apr. 2025). Habitat: freshwater.
