Type catalog: Whitehead & Talwar 1976:162 [ref. 23762], Ferraris et al. 2000:298 [ref. 25110]. Original genus should have been spelled Tetraodon. Current status: Valid as Chelonodon leopardus (Day 1878). Tetraodontidae. Distribution: Northern Indian Ocean: southwestern India; Bay of Bengal (India) east to Myanmar. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
