Current status: Valid as Chelonodon pleurospilus (Regan 1919). Tetraodontidae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) north to Mozambique. Habitat: brackish, marine.
