Holotype: MZUSP 101243. Paratypes: ANSP 189328 (10); UFBA 4342 (31, 3 c&s), 4343 (56), 4344 (76), 4813 (24), 4905 (32); MZUSP 101244 (10). •Valid as Astyanax vermilion Zanata & Camelier 2009 -- (Marinho et al. 2015:576 [ref. 33708], Zanata et al. 2017:508 [ref. 35145], Zanata et al. 2018:486 [ref. 35984], Silva et al. 2020:5 [ref. 37809], Vieira-Guimarães et al. 2024:37 [ref. 41258]). •Valid as Psalidodon -- (Melo et al. 2024:30 [ref. 41541] in Acestrorhamphinae). Current status: Valid as Psalidodon vermilion (Zanata & Camelier 2009). Acestrorhamphidae: Acestrorhamphinae. Distribution: South America: Rio Salgado and rio Almada, coastal drainages in Bahia (Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
