Current status: Valid as Astyanax pirauba (Zanata, Birindelli & Moreira 2010). Acestrorhamphidae: Acestrorhamphinae. Distribution: South America: Xingu, Tapajós and Araguaia River basins, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
