Current status: Valid as Glossogobius hanisii Zarei, Chakona & Schliewen 2025. Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: south and east coasts of southern Africa, from Coega River in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa north to Malawi and Pinda Island, Mozambique, and southeastern and eastern Madagascar. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
