Paratypes: BMNH 1977.1.10.61-69 (9). •Valid as Haplochromis ptistes Greenwood & Barel 1978 -- (van Oijen et al. 1991:169 [ref. 20956]). •Valid as Labrochromis ptistes (Greenwood & Barel 1978) -- (Greenwood 1980:42 [ref. 1899], Mahulu & Seehausen 2025:128 [ref. 42168]). Current status: Valid as Labrochromis ptistes (Greenwood & Barel 1978). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Victoria. Habitat: freshwater.
