Archidoris montereyensis (J. G. Cooper, 1863)
This large cryptobranch dorid can reach 15 cm in length, and is sometimes known as the "false sea lemon" (the true "sea lemons" belong to the genus Anisodoris). Archidoris is a common and sometimes abundant native species. It varies in color from light yellow to orange-brown, and the spots can be brown to black. A. montereyensis feeds on encrusting sponges such as Haliclona spp. and Halichondria spp.
