The Academy library regularly receives slide donations from Academy staff scientists, Academy volunteers, amateur naturalist photographers and friends of the library. We appreciate slides with scientific images and identifications, but we are also happy to receive world travel, habitat, and landscape images. Our library volunteers help with cataloguing slide donations, identifying images and data entry. For more information on donating images or volunteering, contact manzanita@calacademy.org.

Once images are donated to the Academy library, the library holds the copyright and makes all decisions about use. For those individuals who would prefer to maintain copyright control of their images, CalPhotos allows individual contributors to post their own images. Currently, 400 to 800 images a month are added to the system by individuals. Access: About Contributing Photos to CalPhotos.
