Probably a misspelling in the index to the Falcated Rock Carp Cyprinus (Bangana) falcata on Pl. 97 (v. 2) [ref. 1878]. Not the same as Bengala Gray 1834 (see Bănărescu 1997:20 [ref. 23274]) contrary to Eschmeyer & Bailey ("Genera" 1990). •Status uncertain -- (Bănărescu 1997:20 [ref. 23274]). •Synonym of Bangana Hamilton 1822 -- (E.
