Holotype: NRM 56992. Paratypes: 33 speciemens at NRM, USNM 391135 (1). •Valid as Puntius pugio Kullander 2008 -- (Pethiyagoda et al. 2012:73 [ref. 32071]). •Valid as Pethia pugio (Kullander 2008) -- (Chen et al. 2024:72 [ref. 41792]). Current status: Valid as Pethia pugio (Kullander 2008). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: South Asia: Lake Indawgyi, Irrawaddy and upper Sittaung River basins, Myanmar. Habitat: freshwater.
