Holotype: CICCAA 02697. Paratypes: CICCAA 02698 (1), 02699 (2). •Valid as Mikrogeophagus maculicauda Staeck, Ottoni & Schindler 2022. Current status: Valid as Mikrogeophagus maculicauda Staeck, Ottoni & Schindler 2022. Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: South America: Rio Sararé drainage, upper Guaporé River basin, Mato Grosso State, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.

ramirezi, Apistogramma Myers [G. S.] & Harry [R. R.] (ex Anonymous) 1948:77 [The Aquarium, Philadelphia v. 17; ref. 12903] Orinoco system, Venezuela. Holotype: CAS-SU 69630 [ex CAS-SU 14845]. Paratypes: CAS-SU 14845-47 (1, 1, 1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:81 [ref. 12291]. A more complete description appeared later in Myers & Harry 1948 [ref. 5458].
